10 Reasons Flag Football is the Right Call

No contact. No pads. No helmets. Just football. Here is why thousands of families across North America are choosing NFL FLAG.

🚫

Zero Contact

Tackling, blocking, and physical contact are not permitted. Players pull a flag from the ball carrier's belt to stop the play. The game is fast, competitive, and completely non-contact.

🦺

No Pads Required

Athletes wear athletic clothing. No helmets, shoulder pads, or protective equipment is needed. Cleats are optional. This keeps the cost of participation low and removes the intimidation factor for new athletes.

🏥

On-Site Paramedic

A certified paramedic is present at every game night. If anything happens on the field, trained medical help is already there. You do not need to wait for an ambulance.

🛡️

Player Insurance

Every registered athlete is covered by Football Ontario player insurance for the duration of the season. Coverage is included in your registration fee. There is nothing extra to purchase.

🌍

Olympic Sport

Flag football makes its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. Your athlete is learning a sport that will be on the world stage in two years. This is the ground floor of something big.

📋

Rowan's Law

We follow Ontario's Rowan's Law concussion protocol. Any athlete showing signs of a concussion is removed immediately and must have medical clearance before returning to play. Read the official Rowan's Law guidelines.

🧠

Builds Football IQ

Flag football is a thinking game. Athletes learn to read defenses, run precise routes, call plays, and make decisions in real time. The football IQ your child builds here carries into every level of the sport.

Fully Coed

Boys and girls play together on the same teams. Every position is open to every athlete. Flag football is one of the few sports where coed competition is the norm, not the exception.

🏃

Everyone Touches the Ball

In NFL FLAG, every player on the field gets an opportunity to carry or catch the ball. There is no sitting on the bench watching one player dominate. Every athlete is in the game and in the action.

🏈

Official NFL Affiliation

Clarington Flag Football is an official NFL FLAG affiliated league. That means your child is playing the same program used by over 800,000 athletes across North America, with official NFL team jerseys, NFL rules, and NFL coaching resources.
