Clarington Flag Football at a Glance
Where It Started
For The Love Of Football
Clarington Flag Football started the way most great things do, with a small group of people who wanted something better for their community. In the fall of 2024, the league launched with just 4 teams playing in Newcastle at the Clarington Fields. It was grassroots, it was scrappy, and it worked.
The demand was there from the start. Parents wanted a safe, structured, and fun football experience for their athletes. Flag football delivers exactly that with all the skills and strategy of the game, none of the contact, and no equipment costs.
By mid-season, the league had already outgrown Newcastle. With the help of the city of Clarington we were able to make a permanent move to the turf field at South Courtice Arena. This was the turning point that set the foundation for everything that came after. Allowing all of our athletes to play under the bright lights on a real field.

The Timeline
The Beginning - Newcastle
The league launched with a U13 division at Clarington Fields in Newcastle. Four teams competed across 6 weeks. The demand for more flag football was high and with a new season coming in the spring there had to be a field change to handle all of the new athletes joining flag football.
First Full Season at South Courtice
The first full season on the South Courtice Arena turf field. Under the bright lights. Two divisions ran simultaneously which marked the first time Clarington Flag Football served multiple age groups in the same season. The Green Bay Packers claimed the U11 title. The Philadelphia Eagles dominated U14 going 7W-1L through the regular season.
Official NFL FLAG Affiliation
Clarington Flag Football was approved as an official NFL FLAG affiliated league. This connects our players to the largest youth flag football organization in the world and brings NFL-standard programming, resources, and branding to Clarington.
The League Grows
Fall 2025 brought the biggest season yet. Two full divisions at South Courtice with 8 teams total. The Pittsburgh Steelers went undefeated through the U11 regular season at 6W-0L. In U14, the Minnesota Vikings led the division at 5W-1L.
Football Ontario Membership
Before the start of Spring 2026, Clarington Flag Football joined Football Ontario as an official member organization. Membership means our players are covered under provincial insurance, our coaches operate under certified standards, and our league is part of the broader football community in Ontario.
Two Divisions, Eight Teams
Spring 2026 is the biggest season in the league's history. U11 and U15 divisions are running simultaneously at South Courtice Arena with 4 teams each. The season runs 6 regular-season weeks followed by Championship Week.
